In an attempt to get taxpayers to get on board with making tax digital HMRC have launched the personal tax account. This is a souped up version of your HMRC tax login.
In addition to your normal tax return information there are other financial related details that help, and I found some of them very useful.
You can now view your state pension entitlement online directly from your personal tax account. That way you can see if there are any gaps in your national insurance contributions and put things right if necessary.
I’m pleased to report that I’ve only 8 more years to go to be entitled to my full state pension and I have 21 years to do that in.
It is only a few years ago that you had to send a form in to find this out and wait months and months for the answer.
You can also check your tax credit position and child benefit.
If you’re after a mortgage you can print off the form SA302 that most lenders ask for.
You will also be ready for when MTD comes in and be able to share the details with your accountant.
